Read below to learn a little more about me. I'm currently in the job-search process and would love any opportunities you may have. Check out my resume here!
Hello! I'm Drew White, a computer science graduate from Michigan State University. I minored in MSU's highly-ranked Game Design and Development program to bring together my two passions: a love for technology and a love for making stories.
In late 2019, I was added to the student-created Starforged Studios team to be a level/technical designer on their upcoming game Edge. Since then, I have worked across teams to bring ideas to life, sculpted meshes, created the floating islands that populate Edge, and worked on puzzle design that will inhabit the games first dungeon. It was a fantastic opportunity in that I could gain the first-hand experience of game development along with all of the learning that comes with it.
During my time at MSU, I helped start up a student-run game development club named Spartasoft Studio. The club's goal is to give students a full experience outside of the classroom consisting of asset creation, agile project principles, and full cross-discipline collaboration. I served as a programming team director during the two semester's I was involved, a position which I loved and grew from greatly. This came with many responsibilities: being scrum master, creating tasks for all programmers, and aiding others in code and review.
Within my studies, being a part of the world-renowned MSU Game Development minor has been a life-changing program. The amount of amazing experiences I've had and people I've met are too great to count, but the long nights staying up for game jams or projects are a testament to what I've gotten from the experience.
In Summer 2022, I worked as a product engineering intern at West Monroe Partners in Chicago. It was an amazing experience that gave me plenty of real-life client experience in terms of front-end and back-end development.
I love working on my web development skills (React, Node, TypeScript) across personal projects. Other coding skills involve C++ and Python development. In terms of stories, I am a self-published author that loves to formulate narratives in a way that are unique and exciting. I also have a great love for movies, from the industry behind them to film itself.
